I’d describe Tom and Yvette’s big day as fun and casual, but also very stylish.
The Nelsons wed on Saturday 28th November at Rhoades on Water, which is located just out of Inverell along the Copeton Dam Road. Both the ceremony and reception (as well as bridal party photographs) were held there.
I photographed both Tom and Yvette prior to the ceremony, first heading out to where Tom and his groomsmen were getting ready at his Mum’s house. It seemed there was an air of nervous excitement when I arrived to photograph the boys, with suits, ties, shoes and belts flying around everywhere! I had a special note to deliver to Tom – I had stopped by and Amiri (one of Yvette and Tom’s twins) and given me a note to deliver to her father. Him and Cooper (the other twin) read it with pride!
Yvette was kept calm by her mother and bridesmaids and I think they were all ready ahead of time! Yvette wore a beautiful strapless fit and flare gown, embellished with beading and a beaded belt. Her mum and bridesmaids assisted her getting dressed – all the while, little Amiri had a sleep through the excitement!
Yvette’s father was waiting at the ceremony and as soon as she hopped out of the car, his eyes just filled with tears of pride. The ceremony soon got underway with both Amiri and Cooper heading down towards the alter with a junior bridesmaid, followed by Yvette’s three bridesmaids and finally Yvette and her father.
The ceremony was filled with memories of how the couple first met and it was clear that their love for each other, and their family shines through every day.
After the ceremony, we took some quick family photo before whipping the bridal party off to the top of the property for some great photos amongst the trees, the paddock and the rocks. The bridal party were great fun to photograph and had a few suggestions of their own for some amusing photos! It was a hot day, but all the bridal party did so great and it definitely hasn’t shown in the photos just how warm we all were.
When we got back to the reception venue, the boys organised for all the wedding guests to gather at the bottom of the steps and we took a group photo, before I mingled around with guests capturing some candid shots.
After dinner, Tom had organised for a special surprise for Yvette, and had made a light-up sign which was fastened between two trees on the lake ‘Mr & Mrs Nelson’ lit up on a timer at 8pm! So it was then that the happy couple came outside with me and we shot some great after dark pics by the lakeside.
A beautiful day came to an end, but it only marked the beginning of what I think will be a long and happy marriage between Tom & Yvette.
