I recently visited Brisbane for a weekend and managed to combine a visit with family and some work.
It was really great to venture into the streets of Teneriffe and utilise the urban jungle scenes in some of my photoshoots.
I spent an afternoon with two different families and we did some (portable) studio work with little Lewis who’s just six months old his older brother Hunter. The beautiful old woolstore buildings really lent themselves to my style of photography – I like to be able to incorporate the landscape scenery without it overpowering the real heroes of the shot – the people.
My second shoot that afternoon was with the Owens family who are a chic inner-city threesome. I knew a very urban, industrial setting would suit them perfectly, so a simple roller door make the best backdrop for their shoot.
It was great to mix things up in terms of scenery and I loved being able to photograph with different textures and colours that what I am used to here in the country.
But, most importantly, I liked being able to personalise each session so that it really matched with the ‘culture’ of each family.
